Work Lately

We have been working on this remodel project in the downtown Sacramento area. It is all lathed and Nate has some scratch coat pics he is supposed to send me. The job is not big but the yard is pristine and the roof is tall and steep and new, 12 and 12 pitch is always fun! hard on the ankles, we put a ladder up there to walk on, and it is working out great. Next week we brown it and I wish I could talk the owners into refinishing the whole thing because we could make it look great and the finish the got last remodel was uuuugly, and now we have to match that! O well maybe they would like to refinish the whole thing, it could look so nice!

Then our interior job is going right along, next week we will begin finishing it and I think Les is ok with the finish we are planning for him, (fingers crossed). Lots of variable stuff going on in this one, we are going over the blue board cinder block and even a little previously plastered areas. Even some 3 coat interior, a lot of work and I hope it all comes together like I imagine in my minds eye.

Brads Job on Hurley Way

Brad Seashore is Nates friend and we did his job with a brown coat finish we call the pool trowel finish. Spread it and trowel it out with waves and slight imperfections then a thick coat of elastomeric paint makes it look like a hundred bucks. I love the round corners.

One Big Garage

This Garage is every mans dream, 44' x 40' !

Even though I have been downsized I will dream big, and I always loved working on projects where I can see how dreams can be realized by hard work and a vision.

This is the one coat system, which is actually two coats, one of fibered cement concentrate and a finish coat. We will finish it with a synthetic acrylic finish, that is just an awesome product and outperforms any other siding available. Except maybe brick or stone, but those materials have their limitations, price being a very big concern. You can do almost anything with stucco, even make it look like brick or stone, and usually for less.

Before the scaffold we go up as high as we can, this gable is almost 20' high.
Soffits are now required in urban wildfire zones, and a bonus, they look great!

The job at La Via is complete

This house was wood shingle sided and a high maintenance nightmare for the homeowners. The painting was a regular every other year chore and even with a brand new paint job it still looked shabby. Eberle Construction got the job to tear off the shingles and reshear the wall and they hired Jimmy and I to stucco it. Nate and Brent helped on the finish coat. Some of the walls were so out of square I wish I had some pictures to show how amazing we were to make it look so sweet! Just kidding, there was a lot of work that cannot be seen that went into making this house look so nice. I love it when a job turns out right, beautiful conditions also helped so much I want to give God an assist for bringing us the perfect finishing weather. Everyone knows it can be hot and inconducive to working acrylic this time of year. These people got lucky and I hope we get more work from this job. Sending the invoice.



~ The hardest wall on the whole building, barely enough room between the scaffold and the fence to walk. I thought this wall and the challenges we overcame on it summed up every thing we did here.Another job well done! Well, done. : )
~This window detail was made from flat stock of one inch and 1/2 inch foam and had to be exactly like what was there originally. Unfortunately the day of the demo I showed up to look at the progress and the piece, which was wood, was already missing. I had told the homeowners I could duplicate it but I intended to trace the original. Every step of the way Leonard was asking me if I had a sample to show the owners. I told him not to worry but I knew I would have to make it and install it at the finish, no samples on something like that. Well Leonard was surprised that it came out so nice, I knew I could do it, but I was nervous for sure, it was do or die. Luckily the neighbor across the street let me copy theirs, they saved the day. Almost every house on the street has that detail,and it had to be right.

The Most Recent Work @ The Johnsons Home

The work was done on Sunday, and I was imagining that it was for a most special customer, thereby doing my best work.
Sometimes I imagine I am building for God.
I never just think of the money because stucco stone does not lend itself to generating big dollars for me.
Leonard was happy the homeowner was happy so I am happy, we may be able to finish on Tuesday! We did the stucco and the stonework here, I will take more pics I thought I had some of the stucco progress but I cant find them.
