Repairs are where it's at These Days

The front of this place is impressive, and it brings back memories from the 2 different times I have worked on this beautiful home.
A bad deck design equals repairs and just a tiny quick hit job for us, but I love working on homes like this and any job is a good job right now.

Cliff's Disaster

When there is a bad line of communication this is what can happen...
Cliff wanted an imperfect smooth and the guys he hired gave him a case of the measles. The paramedics of Plastering can help here. We will first grind these bumps off and then bond over the acrylic, and then re base coat the thing. Finally we will put our imperfect smooth finish over the whole thing. I think Cliff will be happy. You can see there are three different things going on on this poor old house. The other plasterers were stopped in the nick of time and we can make this right. Even that awful blue colour was something the homeowner didn't want. It is funny to think the salesman thought he could sell this mess. Nate and I just shook our heads and wondered what in the world they were thinking?

Some Finished and nearly finished Stuff

The mess is hard to escape, doing this in the Garage and in the front yard, sorry neighbors. Eventually we want to get a shop and do this more regularly. There is some money to be made in the really custom field.

Closing in on completing Giles and Kolleen's house. These photos show the wall cap still needs to be sealed, cut and set, but the Rowlock cap on the house looks great to me!
Some looks at Les' job, that was completely done, with the exception of the ceiling cracks in the upstairs room. The Plastering detectives figured a guy that was too heavy may have been up there wiring in a ceiling fan after the fact?? Not sure but that or a structural thing I think as those were the only cracks in a job that joined many dissimilar materials together with stunning results.

Some other work we have done recently...

Here is a patch job for Bill the sign guy at the Folsom outlet stores. And the Kahuna job in Vacaville we really want to get going on soon. Also squeezed in is the job for former MLB player Bob Niemeyer and the birds who got revenge by pecking his pop-outs!
And a couple photos of me, oof.

And Nate too!

Giles and Kolleens house

Giles and Kolleen gave us the chance to do some custom work on their home in Sacramento. We bonded over the painted brick wainscote and installed the slate pieces and built the block wall and put the slate on it also, next we are pouring the wall cap and did a bunch of work in the back yard too . I will update with those photos soon.
I like the way the slate goes with their front door which is a blue colour. The faux stone we plastered on is going to be stained to match the slate next we did a test run today and I have that photo here somewhere.

Work Lately

We have been working on this remodel project in the downtown Sacramento area. It is all lathed and Nate has some scratch coat pics he is supposed to send me. The job is not big but the yard is pristine and the roof is tall and steep and new, 12 and 12 pitch is always fun! hard on the ankles, we put a ladder up there to walk on, and it is working out great. Next week we brown it and I wish I could talk the owners into refinishing the whole thing because we could make it look great and the finish the got last remodel was uuuugly, and now we have to match that! O well maybe they would like to refinish the whole thing, it could look so nice!

Then our interior job is going right along, next week we will begin finishing it and I think Les is ok with the finish we are planning for him, (fingers crossed). Lots of variable stuff going on in this one, we are going over the blue board cinder block and even a little previously plastered areas. Even some 3 coat interior, a lot of work and I hope it all comes together like I imagine in my minds eye.
